Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Lenore H — 09 Feb 2015
The many dimly lit scenes and the slow, slow pacing made this film a challenge to keep watching. (And I'm a fan of slower pacing in many foreign films.) Its strength is Isaac's portrayal of the main character trying (and failing, sadly) to hold onto his integrity.
A couple edge-of-the-seat suspenseful sequences and Oscar Isaac are all I can recommend.
