Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Quinette L — 09 Feb 2015
This is a really good, understated and subtle movie about business, corruption, family and work. It's not flashy but it takes place in 1981 and comes across as a creation myth for that decade of greed, serving as a parable for what was to come during the Reagan administration.
It zooms in on a few individuals but it's really about the forces swirling in American life at the time which gives it a lot of layers give the view a lot to think about.
