Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Matt H — 12 Mar 2015
Decidedly retro, but lacking in story and direction and made worthy of watching for the performances of Isaac & Chastain and the impressive cinematography from Bradford Young. Sadly, the minimalist story lacks in all departments, from motif development to the straight up amount of content given it's length and ambition.
An especially cringe worthy final scene puts and end to the proceedings leaving the audience underwhelmed and disappointed.
