Brilliantly acted, sharply scripted, and possessing a darkly engrossing atmosphere, A Most Violent Year may stand a little too pat at times and never quite fulfills on its potential, but still serves as a a superior and absorbing crime drama, and solidifies J.
C. Chandor as one of the finest and most under appreciated directors of this generation.
