Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Movie C — 13 Jun 2015
This film is massive; a tour de force from Chandor, owed to his impeccable screenplay and sensitive direction. A slow-burner of mammoth calibre, A Most Violent Year is a mighty and intensely gripping genre that bursts with confident performances, notably Isaac as Abel - now one of my new favourite characters in film.
Something like this does not emerge from modern cinema very often, and it pains me that it has passed through 2014 unnoticed or under-appreciated. I implore everyone to watch this beautifully filmed work of art - one of the best films of 2014, and possibly of the 2010s.
