Review of A Monster in Paris (2011) by Henrik S — 27 Nov 2012
The French animated film "Un Monstre à Paris" (A Monster in Paris) has some excellent musical segments, enjoyable characters and its share of big laughs. The film isn't perfect; while most of the time the animation looks gorgeous, a couple of scenes look a little bit off and not all of the jokes work.
The fragmented ending might throw you off as well, though it does a good job of tying everything up nicely and you like the characters so much by the end of the film that you want to see how everyone turns out.
Smart children's/family films are often hard to find, especially if you want to see something that hasn't been released by the major studios and if you're curious about this one it's a lot of fun.
The is actually significantly better than the cover makes it seem so if you're interested at all, "A Monster in Paris" has a lot of good things going for it particularly if you can speak and understand French and you want to experience something that hasn't simply been translated from English.
