Review of A Monster Calls (2016) by Hazzagalla — 09 Mar 2017
Whilst not as superior as the book, A Monster Calls is still an excellent film. It's a very heartfelt and touching story which never lets up. The performances and characters are fantastic, the cinematography and score are spot on, and the 'monster' feels seamless and a part of the tragic world that the main protagonist, Connor, is brought up in.
Whilst the movie could have benefited from more scenes from the book, and sometimes the monster's voice is a bit hard to understand, the movie still excels. It's a sad but beautiful movie.
