Be prepared for people sniffing and, if you're prone to blubbing yourself, take a hanky. This film is nothing like the trailer ... it's much better. Seldom do we find ourselves discussing the deep moral messages in a film next day, but A Monster Calls had us doing exactly that over our Wetherspoons breakfast.

Excellent acting from the central characters and a story that draws you in. It's too early to declare the best film of 2017, but it's a contender.
