Review of A Monster Calls (2016) by Nick D — 08 Jan 2017
Outstanding acting from young MacDougall and Liam Neeson's sonorous voice gives the Monster the same fear, depth and gravitas as the book. There were some problems with pacing and failure to fully flesh out the grandmother, and both would have helped.
Additionally, had the movie ended one scene earlier it would have been far more impactful and strengthened the overall experience.
