Review of A Monster Calls (2016) by Heather M — 26 May 2017

While the performances and effects are excellent, if you don't know what you're getting into thematically (and even if you do), the movie is devastating. It's depiction of the impending loss of a parent and its effect on a twelve-year-old child is accurate and heart-rending.

This is a hard movie to categorize, but be aware it is definitely not a children's movie.
