Did anyone else notice towards the end of the movie when Conor is looking over his new room in his grandmothers house, the room is full of things from his mothers childhood. She had the same monster as a friend when she was little.
As the camera pans around the room one of the pictures shows his mom as a little girl with a man, obviously her father. The man in the pic is Liam Neeson, the voice of the monster. We are not told what happened to her father.
Makes me think the mom had created the monster modeled after her father in some way.
