Review of A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) by Gage B — 21 Nov 2014
A decent comedy that I think any die-hard Seth McFarlene can at least find something they enjoyed about it. Certainly not a great movie by any means and definitely not as funny as Ted, but as a huge fan of Family Guy, Ted and American Dad, I gotta say that there were a decent amount of jokes that made me laugh.
Where the movie really fell flat for me was the second half. The first half was funny enough to the point where if it ended sooner than I would have walked away from this film almost finding it as funny as Ted, but as it stands, after the first hour of this overlong gag-fest, the movie drops the ball, completely looses it's dry comedic touch and simply descends into absurd nonsense.
At the end of the day, I think this is definitely a film that could have benefited from tighter editing and stronger writing, but overall still enjoyable. No what you're getting into though. If you love Seth McFarlene you'll probably like this movie, if not, you need not apply.
