Review of A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) by David B — 31 Oct 2014
There's no depth to what you see on screen here: MacFarlane is simply doing what he does best; delivering cheap laughs as he continues to try and push the boundaries. The title doesn't really do justice to the film as I was expect something completely different.
Though Seth was ok in the film, I think he should stick to doing voice work, the film also seemed cheap and almost pointless, it's like the film didn't know where or how it was going to end. The first half hour was pure gold but then was pure turd for the rest.
MacFarlane's legions of fans will no doubt flock to his latest reckless creation with an eagerness to please, but afterward they might just plead with him to keep his day job. A Million Ways to Die in the West spends more time trying to push the buttons of its audience rather than entertaining it.
It's amusing in small doses, but as a whole it's about three horseshoes away from being an atrocity to the comedy genre. Highlights have to be the cameo's from two actors and you'd have to know your films to understand them.
Looking forward to Ted 2, something he really should done first.
