Review of A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) by Oliver C — 18 Dec 2014
This is one of my favourite films of 2014 as it is the first real spoof of a true western since Blazing saddles and also I am a big fan of Seth MacFarlane's style of comedy. To really enjoy this film you really need to be a fan of Seth MacFarlane.
So if you enjoy Family Guy and This first film Ted then you will love this as I feel it is the best thing he has done. If you are not a fan of his work then I would recommend not watching this film as it may not suit your style of comedy.
You get a clear feeling that Seth MacFarlane really enjoyed making this film as well as being one of the main characters. I felt that because he was a big onscreen presence and not just the voice it allowed him to really feel the motion of the film and bounce off his fellow actors to make it even better and original.
I thought that the use of Liam Neeson in this film gave it a serous ness and allowed the bad guy off the film to not be perceived and a joke and taken seriously. I also thought that Charlize Theron played the role of Anna perfectly even though it was very different to her usual genre.
You could also see that that there was a chemistry between her and Seth allowing them to make the characters there own. I really enjoyed the fact that there was a very random appearance of Christopher Lloyd who everyone loves from his role in Back to the Future and thought fitted into the films style perfectly adding not only a great comedy moment but also a well-known and famous saying that is still known today.
I thought this film truly showed the genius that is Seth MacFarlane's style of comedy and I have personally watched this film 7 times and each time it still makes me laugh out loud.
