Review of A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) by Mloy X — 30 Jan 2016
Anna (Charlize Theron): You're a good sheep farmer!
Albert (Seth Mcfarlane): Oh my god, please! I suck at sheep. Louise was right, I can't keep track of them. There was a sheep in the whorehouse the last week.
Anna (Charlize Theron): Really?
Albert (Seth Mcfarlane): Yeah. Wandered in there, and then when I went to pick it up, somehow it had made 20 dollars.
Mildly entertaining but overall not really Seth McFarlane's best work. The jokes are kind of tired, the humor is juvenile at best-- probably the joke in the whole film was Albert's (McFarlane) monologue with Foy (NPH) before their duel. The presence of A-listers like actors like Liam Neeson (Clinch) and Charlize Theron was more of a curiosity (like gawking at a car accident after the fact) rather than giving the film gavitas. Giovanni Ribisi (Edward) was such a wasted talent-- he has more range than menial role he was cast for. So, in short, just ho-hum flick from the warp (but usually more funny than this) mind of McFarlane-- there's two wasted hours of my life I'll never get back.
