Review of A Mighty Wind (2003) by Benjamin P — 28 Jun 2008
Brilliant send-up of folk music from the 60s, as well as the boomer/NPR folk music renaissance of a few years back. Unlike other Christopher Guest efforts, there's an attempt at a genuine narrative, rather than the more free-form "mockumentary" style of Spinal Tap or Waiting for Guffman, and this plot taps into a genuine sweetness and gentleness I did not expect.
Not for everyone, but I found it to be a terrific film.
