Review of A Mighty Heart (2007) by Anastasia B — 26 Apr 2008
Some people are going to be put off by the documentary style here. Even Angelina doesn't seem flashy enough.
But!
Michael Winterbottom is a great director. I am just bowing down to his talent once again. He has pulled this off, and it is a great deal to be able to do so. A political film is a grenade -- and it didn't go off in his hands.
The last scene (a mother and her child going down a street of Paris - a street that could have been in any city, even my own-- coupled with a great song ["manner of speaking"by Nouvelle Vague] is just brilliant.A touching, poetic and spirited ending beyond words, in all it's simplicity.
