Review of A Mighty Heart (2007) by Ernst M — 28 Dec 2011
This is an amazing movie. I was truly touched to see the strength portrayed by Angelina Jolie. Just when I pigeon-hole Jolie, she reminds me of her talent. After watching this movie, I felt compelled to research this movie.
In that search for more information I came across a critique for the film that they "bowed" to pressure to not include specifics of the kidnapping because there wasn't any confirmed information about.
That it causes it to miss connecting the viewers with Daniel Pearl himself. I personally find it brave to make a film based on facts and not dramatic license. For example "A Beautiful Mind", which is a great movie and enjoy watching it.
That being said every time I watch it, I can't help but think of the fact that Nash never visually saw his delusions and that his delusions never involved a "military conspiracy". I understand why Ron Howard made the film they he did, he did it effectively.
Short story long, a movie based on facts should not be discouraged but allowed it's place in cinema.
