Woody Allen's loose remake of Ingmar Bergman's Smiles of a Summer Night, has some fun moments, but otherwise it's one of his weaker films. It was like he thought no matter how hard he tried he couldn't make a film better than Bergman, let alone remake a Bergman.
So he didn't try.
