Review of A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) by Adryan G — 24 Aug 2007
For a long time now, I have been disappointed with the movies John Travolta involved himself in. I held on to the hope that there had to be something there after his performance in Pulp Fiction. This movie completely changed my perception of his ability.
He brings this bittersweet character to life in a startling way. However, the brilliance in the film overall is really in the cast combo. His character's transformation was only felt/seen as a reflection of his connection with the younger castmates, Johansson and Macht.
I love watching the threesome in action. I felt that these actors geling throughout the story was a necessity to make the movie float. I didn't once feel like I was watching "celebrity".
Thank you for showing me a new side to your perception of the craft Mr. Travolta!
