Review of A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) by Edward C — 03 Jun 2008
The cinematography is poorly executed and distracting at times and the film's pace leaves one to wonder just how much ended up on the cutting-room floor. Never the less, stellar performances by Travolta, as the endearingly brilliant drunkard Bobby Long, and the rest of the cast more than overcome any technical problems the film may have.
It also succeeds in capturing something of the spirit of New Orleans, always a haven for writers and outta-lucks, even using local actors and residents for extras. And the views of the city, pre-Katrina, are priceless in themselves.
