Review of A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) by Seppo K — 10 Oct 2008
The script tries too hard to be a southern gothic tragedy-drama, and misses. Scarlett Johansson has her moments, but its not her best. The supporting roles are strongest, along with the backdrop of a gritty "Big Easy" w.
some great original music as well as standards - so see it if you can. I really liked Gabriel Macht, who along w. many characters plays an alcoholic. (very realistic portrayal of how addiction destroys lives) The story throws some curves, but winds up back where you expect it to.
