Review of A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) by Richie W — 12 Feb 2010
It took me a moment to start liking the film I was watching, but once it passed that threshold it just became better and better. it's a great story with a nice pace about more-or-less fucked-up people (though in different ways) that get together and influence each other for the better.
The three main actors, travolta, johansson & macht deliver a fantastic performance, though I have to say I was surprised most by macht's acting, haven't seen him in this way before.
Selecting grayson capps for the main titles of the film just adds to the whole new orleans atmosphere, as does the selected, visually inspiring scenery. the steady quotes from famous writers give the film its own little touch.
The only thing I might complain about are two scenes that I feel are a tad bit over-the top - the dancing in the sunset and the very end, which i'm not gonna spoil here.
