Review of A Long Way Down (2014) by Maximus F — 06 Jun 2014
I have to say I found this film enjoyable. I can understand the criticism it has received in trivialising suicide but while it can be a bit of a laboured watch I genuinely found it was well worked.
The only miscast I would say is that of Sam Neill, Are you honestly telling me Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry or Michael Sheen weren't interested or available? The cast make their threadbare characters work, with Toni Collette stealing the show.
While not on par with High Fidelity, Fever Pitch or About a Boy, A Long Way Down is still a decent watch for Nick Hornby fans but will not be everyone's cup of tea. I liked it, only you can decide if you will too.
