Review of A Lonely Place to Die (2011) by The D — 03 Jan 2012
A very satisfactory highland tale of peril sees Melissa George's Alison evading murderous kidnappers intent on retrieving their asset.
Set in the highlands of Scotland a group of mountaineers discover young Serbian Anna buried whilst on their trek. Resolving to take the girl to safe ground & raise help the trip takes a deadly turn for some as the ruthless kidnappers stop at nothing & no one to reposess their pay day.
It steers clear of the grandiose Cliffhanger but the photography is quite special & the whole film seems very well put together from start to finish. George is good value as the seasoned climber leading the pack with good support from the typically menacing Sean Harris heading up the pair of abductors.
The only drawbacks are provided by the two operatives brought in by the Serbian child's murderous Father to extract his daughter & eliminate the kidnappers. They both looked like hi-tec Fast Show off-roaders & one would not have looked put of place lead singing for Cameo,.
