Review of A Lonely Place to Die (2011) by James C — 17 Jan 2013
Another prime example of parasite film critics leeching. 77%? Cut the crap! This film has absolutely nothing particularly special about it whatsoever. The acting and poor attempt at reaching the standards of the required accent for the role(s) is a failure. Melissa George, whom happens to be an Aussie in reality, speaks with an English/American/Irish accent (which ever it is). The accent is a major distraction and has me drifting off the plot and sat there trying to determine which dialect is being abused here. Ed Speleers stars as Orlando Bloom 2.0, and brings nothing to the table but wooden acting and eye candy. Is it no surprise he barely gets work as an actor? Are these characters intentionally total bore's? Is saving an anonymous child worth the problematic escape route's and peril? Ugh.
The film is surrounded by great landscape and has a terrific open world experience. However this isn't doing it any favours.
Finally, another trouble with this film is; it constantly thinks it's being macabre, when infact it is merely, solely macabre.
