Review of A Little Princess (1995) by Yiseth A — 29 Aug 2009
I LOVE this movie and will continue to cry buckets every single time I see it. It's an incredible story about the power of a single indivual to change everything, and the power of the human heart to endure.
The storytelling sequences are not only lush visually, but a neat underlining of the plight of the leading characters themselves. Minchin is horrifying, but we see glimpses of depth that keep her from becoming cartoonish.
There's a wonderful blend of humor and heartbreak, and this remains one of my favorites.
