Review of A Life Less Ordinary (1997) by Lindsay W — 08 Jan 2008
Ewan McGregor is completely great in this movie, and Cameron Diaz, who I find to be a hit or miss actress also does a good job, but the rest of the ensemble cast outshines her. Holly Hunter is terrific as a scrappy noir angel, and you love to hate my man, Stanley Tucci, as the boyfriend/dentist with a head injury.
If you can accept the unlikely yet colorful storyline, (and I can) you might be able to sit back and enjoy the screwball lines and hapless romance. I think the people who hate this movie aren't willing to suspend disbelief; for those people concerned with holes in the plot, I offer this quote from the movie: "But that's part of the beauty of it.
It's inexplicable, unpredictable... and absolutely beyond control or understanding.".
