Review of A League of Their Own (1992) by Deb S — 15 Jul 2011
This is a special movie. It runs the gamut emotionally, from lighthearted and funny to somber. Well acted and full of stars, this ensemble cast really came together and let each character shine as the story dictated. This is Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell and Lori Petty's best movie. While not his finest performance, Hanks did a fine job taking his character from despicable to well liked with a purpose. Seeing baseball history replayed in this format worked better for me than it would have if it were a documentary. The writers did a fantastic job of capturing the feel of the times and making it fun. Well worth watching every time you get a chance.
