Penny Marshall mixes drama and humour with care here, delivering a home-run in all departments. Stellar performances from Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, Lori Petty, Rosie O'Donnell, Madonna (the best role of her inconsistent acting career), Bitty Schram, Megan Cavanagh and Jon Lovitz keeps its audience engaged and entertained.
A consistently charming and sweet all-American film, littered with likable characters and a number of quotable lines, most famously, "There's no crying in baseball!".
