Review of A Late Quartet (2012) by Brandon M — 17 Feb 2013
What I love about this movie is how Yaron was able to represent Opus 131 with his film. The film isn't as much about music as it is about life (unfortunately, I would have preferred more music scenes).
But although it often comes extremely close to melodrama and becoming over-the-top, it usually is able to handle itself well and recover. And while this is no perfect work, from a first-time feature-film director, it's a pretty good start.
I especially look forward to anything he might be doing in the future, and I also would like to see Mark Ivanir in more dramatic roles within feature films.
