Review of A Late Quartet (2012) by Leon B — 03 Aug 2013
Review:
With such a great cast, I was expecting an something amazing, but like most movies nowadays, I was terribly disappointed. The director wasted a chance to make magic happen, because the movie was boring and uninteresting. The cast put in a decent performance, but it was the weak storyline and terrible concept which let the movie down. I'm not one that is into the violin, unless its an emotional soundtrack, so I wasn't really that interested in the subject matter. Christopher Walken put I'm an emotional performance which is quite different to his usual hard man roles, but I still find the movie to drag from one scene to the next and you are left feeling pretty unsatisfied at the end. Disappointingly!
Round-Up:
I am quite a Philip Seymour Hoffman fan because of his versatile acting style along with his dead pan humour, but I'm sure that he won't be remembered for this film. I was hoping for something to happen throughout the movie, but nothing really does, which is a shame because I was quite impressed with there skills of violin playing, if it was real of course. The ending was left to the viewers imagination because they never put an end to some of the characters situations. I've just got to learn to stop getting excited when I see a great cast.
Budget: N/A.
Worldwide Gross: $1.5 million (Terrible).
I recommend this movie to people who are into there emotional dramas which are based around a 4 piece violin group. 2/10.
