Review of A Knight's Tale (2001) by Maymay A — 28 May 2010
He will rock you!
There have been awful criticisms about the film. Yes, it's unbelievable, and from all aspects, definitely incorrect. That's why many loathed it. Well, as for me. It was fantastic! I suppose that it's main purpose is not to be something great, something to praise, something to admire, but to be a mere piece of entertainment. And it did pretty well on that aspect. I actually found myself occasionally smiling.
Heath Ledger was incredible. The whole cast was amazing. What a magnificent ensemble. Aside from Ledger, I also want to point out the noteworthy performance of Paul Bettany. The story was nice. It was not something grand or big. It's just about a peasant who willfully dreamt to be a knight.
It has something to teach not to the mind, but, to the heart. That whoever you are, wherever you came from, nothing can ever stop you to become someone noble if you are strong enough to never let go of your dreams. This is not a story about a king, a prince or a hero. This is a story about a royalty, a knight, not by birth, but by worth.
A knight at heart, some trusty friends, a lovely damsel, and a bitter rival with the amazing Queen music that will rock your hearts out, this surely is something to see.
