Review of A Knight's Tale (2001) by Chase S — 09 Aug 2010
This is one of Heath Ledger's best films, as well as being one of the most fun. It strikes a chord similar to one experienced when watching The Replacements or The Longest Yard. In other words, it's a medieval football film.
Heath Ledger portrays the typical underdog who astounds everyone with his rise to stardom while simultaneously winning the heart of the pretty girl. Cliche, yes, but fun nonetheless. It features a great cast, each giving a stellar performance, and a story good enough to hold your attention till the credits roll, a rare feat for this type of film.
The soundtrack and dialogue make it feel like a modern movie, despite the scenery's best efforts to portray its 14th century setting. An all-around fun movie for most occasions, A Knight's Tale does not disappoint.
