Review of A Knight's Tale (2001) by Brian K — 19 Jul 2012
5/17/02 - I didn't really care too much for A Knight's Tale. A lot of the story was pretty predictable and implausible (especially stuff with the Prince). The whole injury thing was not at all realistically handled.
It was an interesting concept to mix modern ideas with a historical era. However, I thought that Moulin Rouge handled this much better since it was set in a kind of timeless place, and the only modern concepts were the songs.
Here it was music, expressions, and fashion including hairstyles. The World Championship of Jousting...come on! I thought this all kind of distracted from the story. The love story portions were not all that believable either.
And I'm still trying to figure out why Geoffrey Chaucer was in the movie. Ignoring all that (which IS rather difficult), the movie wasn't that bad. If you don't care about all that, it could be a good popcorn flick.
