Review of A Kid in King Arthur's Court (1995) by Lia D — 30 Dec 2009
Powerful and moving tale about faith, love, and redemption. Considered the film that kick started Daniel Craig's career, this all-star cast also features Kate Winslet and Art Malik. The evil Lord Belasco (portrayed by none other than Art Malik) is one of the most vicious and sophisticated villains ever to grace the silver screen.
Malik's interpretation of Lord Belasco, a real historical figure, even earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. As a side note, the award ended up in the hands of Tim Curry, who's performance as Hexxus in Fern Gully: The Last Rain Rorest won the Oscar and received a standing ovation.
In what was to become Oscar history, Tim Curry invited Malik onstage, where they both received a standing ovation and also a check for one million dollars. A classic film destined to be enjoyed and studied by film-goers for years to come.
