Review of A Home at the End of the World (2004) by Steve W — 20 Jul 2008
Loved it, and still not sure why.Anyone whose ever doubted Colin Farrels talent has only to watch this film, he and Robin Wright Penn are sublime along with Sissy Spacek. Although Roberts character is meant to be awkward, you just feel he hasnt the charisma or prescence to carry off his role with the conviction it needs.
You get so wrapped up in the triangle and Farrels fairy-tale like character, you forget to ask yourself questions like,'Why is Bobby still a virgin at 24?' and 'Why does he cry like that during sex?', you just take it as red.
Its profoundly moving, the need to be loved and accepted being the under-lying theme, the only real question being, why did it take me so long to watch this?
