Tom Hanks plays the dumbest Westerner to ever visit Saudi Arabia. He jokes that he is with the CIA, cuts open a cyst with a steak knife, comes on to a Wahabist doctor and more ultra cringe worthy actions.

I couldn't decide whether he wanted to play a jerk because he was a plant closing capitalist or he simply is now the jerk Tom Hanks is in real life. For the minor points Hollywood was trying to make here about our lack of sensitivity for Muslim values, this sure was a long, slow, dull show.
