"Everyone has something to hide.".

An intense and thoroughly engaging piece of filmmaking from Director David Cronenberg. Brutal, intense, raw and hardcore, A History Of Violence is a Cronenberg film inside and out. It's an edgy, tense, surprising, and suspenseful thrill ride that sucks you in from the downright strange opening sequence. Action packed and violent as hell. A very well written story that will have your pulse pounding to the extreme. It's volatile, mean, bloody, and an in your face blast of tedious filmmaking.

Viggo Mortensen stars as Tom Staal, a small-town businessman who has some very shady characters show up to his diner. Mortensen is brilliant in this film, one of his best performances. Ed Harris, Mario Bella, And William Hurt all make appearances and are great with their respective screentime. Cronenberg came with an all-star cast and they did not disappoint at all. A History Of Violence was a change of pace for David Cronenberg, but was just as good if not better than some of his earlier films.
