A second time around, the flaws of "A History of Violence" become much more obvious. This is one of the more overrated films of recent memory, and I don't quite see why it is so loved among critics.

About the acting, I can't complain. Viggo Mortensen is solid in the lead role and Ed Harris and William Hurt are frightening as the film's villains, even though both are horrifically underused.

Where the real problems lie are in the script and in the editing, and there are unintentionally funny moments caused by both. "A History of Violence" has entertainment value, but it's not nearly as good as everyone says it is.
