Review of A History of Violence (2005) by N C — 28 Sep 2010
Intelligent examination on violence and the heroism that surrounds it. Cronenberg delves deep into the abyss of the human psyche and shows us a grim and depressing vision of a society in which violence will always have a part.
Viggo Mortensen is brilliantly casted as the seemingly soft and warm family man who has a dark layer underneath his appearence.I found Eastern Promises, the unofficial sequel, a tad bit sharper, because it graphically depicts the brutality and senseless nature of violence.
In ''A history of violence'' the fighting scenes are still a bit cartoonesk and too exciting.
