Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Tero-Mikko T — 03 Dec 2010
A modern ancient western. When one superficially looks at all the actors' faces, they all remind one of animals living in savannas. This evokes a feeling of times when man hunted amongst the animals and lived off the land. Times before an assassin like Joey Cusack had a choice whether to kill or not.
The music plays on the theme of a classic western. Howard Shore first plays it with noble hearted (albeit naive) sounds and subtly moving the music into ambivalent and ancient areas.
