Review of A History of Violence (2005) by William N — 21 Jan 2011
So I got to it 5 years late, but wow, this must be one of the most overrated films I've ever seen. The characters are two-dimensional and the plot is painfully contrived. Sure, it makes some interesting observations about how we define violence (especially the staircase love/rape scene) but without my disbelief being suspended or me caring about any of the characters, it becomes a hollow intellectual exercise.
