Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Robert H — 16 Jan 2012
Well, A History Of Violence, if nothing else, operates on a profound level. I hesitate to describe it, though I can recommend it to those who enjoyed the ponderous mood and stark presence of violence in No Country For Old Men, or The Godfather, even.
Perhaps more like Blue Velvet with a cohesive thematic structure. In any case, you should see it for its remarkable wholesomeness: a perfect script executed perfectly. In all hopefulness it will stand as one of the great American epics of cinema.
Rent it and decide for yourself.
