Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Julie J — 25 Aug 2012
The story is what makes this film. The characters are great as well, but it's the way the story just digs deeper and deeper into the small piece of every viewer's psyche that tries to analyze violent situations.
Some of use that part of our brain more than others, but it is certainly tested well. I would expect no less of David Cronenberg, the man has true visions of what he wants his films to be. Viggo Mortensen does a great job in this as well as Maria Bello, Ed Harris, and William Hurt has a small but great part as well.
This is a great film overall that belongs in everyone's collection, preferably on blu-ray.
