Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Justin O — 23 Oct 2012
It is not often that you think of a film as having a great storyline but was executed poorly!
This film should have been so much better, the points to make this great are there but there are so many aspects of it that put you off. The American stereotype is so prevalent in this film it?s ridiculous. I could understand if it was done in such a way to emphasise a point but it was done to make you feel for the characters which I feel only did the opposite.
The first scene is excellent and sets you up for something intriguing and different, but fails to deliver almost immediately. This film should have twists and turns and get you questioning the possibilities that are presented to you but you can?t help but see right through it all!
This is generally classed as a really good film by many, I am afraid that I can?t disagree.
Still, worth watching mind! There are some pretty gruesome bits is that?s your thing!
