Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Matt M — 01 Apr 2013
A mild mannered man becomes a small town hero, but his act of courage uncovers his dark past. A great work of character study that seems to have been inspired by the post 9/11 atmosphere. Cronenberg's film is a dark and psychologically compelling drama that questions the very nature of violence.
Mortensen's performance is great.
