Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Jovan J — 26 May 2013
Superb film with one of the best closing sequences I've ever seen. Though the plot is pretty simple, the emotional struggles the characters go through are very complex and their reactions are quite realistic and understandable.
What is family? That is a powerful central question of the film that isn't answered universally, thankfully, but tackles it in a profound way. And though I wouldn't call this an action film, the moments of violence in this film are raw and cerebral, so it delivers on the name very well.
