Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Lachlan D — 14 Nov 2013
A Histroy of Violence tells the story of man who has achieved the American Dream. And like a nightmare, an unruly presence creeps up on him only to yank it away from under his feet. Viggo Mortinson is tremendous as the oblivious Tom Stall who wants so badly to believe his life is honest and wholesome.
However he's put through the dread of watching his family turn to dysfunction; his wife Eddie (Maria Bellow) loses faith in him and his son Jack (Ashton Holmes) soon feels alienated. Both are tremendous.
Also great in the film is the two-faced Carl Fogarty, played by Ed Harris;by far one of my favorite comic book movie villains.
