Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Ian M — 01 Oct 2010
I like this film, because it shows that everything has consequences, even being a hero. That was my favorite aspect of the movie. Both father and son have moments early in this movie where they do something to be called a "hero" then both face impending violence as a result of it.
It showed that once you make the hero's decision, you must continue on that heroic action, or you will face worse consequences. When both father and son give into their baser instincts, things only get worse.
The movie was moderately well acted. Ed Harris was great, but everyone else was good but not worth mentioning. The camera shots are great. What they show and don't show always work perfectly in this movie.
All in all, the themes in the movie are the things that keep your attention to this movie and make it an interesting view.
